Oklahoma Tragedy
A Message from Pastor Dan
Dear Friends,
I am writing this morning in response to the tragedy that our brothers and sisters have suffered in Oklahoma as a result of the tornadoes that ravaged the Oklahoma City area. Please keep them lifted up to God in prayer. We know that God is near to the broken hearted and close to those who mourn. They need support and encouragement, and as the Body of Christ we can do that through prayer and in other tangible ways as well. One organization that is always there when disaster strikes is UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). It is a wonderful organization that makes a huge difference in disaster areas like Oklahoma. The apportionments of churches like ours helps to fund the administrative arm of UMCOR so that EVERY dollar given to UMCOR in disaster relief goes straight to the affected area. We will be having a special offering for UMCOR this Sunday during our worship service and the church will write one check to UMCOR for disaster relief. Also, First United Methodist in Crown Point (352 S. Main Crown Point, In) has been added as a drop-off site for donation items for the Oklahoma victims. They will be taking donations of water, personal hygiene items, shoes and clothing beginning today through Sunday during church hours: Mon-Fri (8:30-4:30, Sat. 9-12 and Sunday 8-12). Let’s do our part in helping these brothers and sisters in Oklahoma stand again.
Blessings
Pastor Dan
